Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Summary:
To deliver leading-edge technical consultancy in the areas of Power Systems Analysis and Electrical Engineering and Design. The base location will be at our office in Teesside and is expected to involve both national and some international travel supporting customers in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Manufacturing and Energy sectors. The role may require the occasional plant survey at both onshore and offshore facilities, within the UK and possibly overseas.
Key Responsibilities:
This is a technical role in an established engineering design and consultancy business. The main activities include, but are not limited to:
- Undertake, oversee and deliver high-quality detailed electrical design and engineering projects including calculations, analysis, schematics, drawings, diagrams, models, specifications, data sheets and other documentation required for both LV and HV electrical equipment.
- Perform Load Flow, Short Circuit Analysis and Arc Flash Studies. Risk Assessments, Harmonic Analysis, Transformer Energisation and Protection Co-ordination, Transient Stability, Transient Motor Starting Analysis, Earthing and Grid Compliance Studies.
- Always represent the company in a professional, positive, and diligent manner.
- Producing high-quality technical reports / notes; discussing and presenting findings to clients where necessary.
- Regular review and management of assigned projects from inception to completion, planning and supervising the work of the EPS Engineering team to achieve project deliverables.
- Attend all meetings with clients, project team, contractors etc, interacting with clients to achieve project objectives. Scoping and interpreting client requirements to prepare and deliver an effective technical solution.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, clients, suppliers etc.
- Contribute to implementing continual improvement processes within the Engineering function, highlighting any issues within the team and general opportunities for improvement as appropriate.
- Mentoring and supervision of Graduate Engineer(s), sharing technical knowledge and experience.
- Appreciation and understanding of relevant UK, European & International standards, legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
- To have a thorough knowledge of and compliance with EPS’ quality and business management procedures.
- Seek, complete and record evidence of continued professional development in accordance with the requirements of the IET.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
- A minimum of 2.1 Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from a relevant university.
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- At least 5 years’ industry related experience in an Electrical Engineer capacity. Experience of power engineering and design of both high and low voltage systems.
- Preferably able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of ETAP, DIgSILENT, CDEGS, AutoCad and Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven ability to design electrical systems and demonstrate rationale behind proposals.
- A proven track record of technical leadership on EPC type capital and / or revenue projects, including cost and budget control.

- The drive, ambition and commercial acumen to develop EPS and fast-track their role within it.
