EPS Proudly Fundraises for the Headlight Project, the Great North Air Ambulance Service and Macmillan Cancer Support

Over the past couple of months, Team EPS has taken on three very different fundraising activities in support of charities doing important work across our local communities.
From transporting a cask of ale nearly 15 miles across Teesside and an unbeaten day of five-a-side football, to coming together over coffee and cake, the team has raised money for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS), The Headlight Project and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Each activity brought colleagues together in a different way and, thanks to everyone who donated and got involved, raised valuable funds for three important causes.
15 Miles, A Full Cask and No Motorised Transport
Our first fundraising challenge was pALEgrimage 2026, raising money for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
The challenge gave participating teams one task: collect a donated cask from a local pub or brewery and get it back to The Golden Smog in Stockton-on-Tees without using any form of motorised transport.

Team EPS took on the challenge starting at Brass Monkey in Guisborough.
Around 15 miles and 7.5 hours later, the team arrived back in Stockton-on-Tees with the cask safely in tow.

The donated casks were all then served during The Golden Smog’s beer festival, with proceeds from the beer sales adding to the overall fundraising total.
More importantly, the challenge supported GNAAS and the pre-hospital emergency care its teams provide across the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.
Our team raised over £700, with EPS directors Joanne and Adrian matching the amount raised doubling our contribution.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who sponsored the team, as well as those who joined us along the route and helped keep spirits high as the miles started to add up.
A Different Challenge for The Headlight Project

Less than two weeks later, football boots replaced the walking boots at EPS returned to the Business Fives Tees Valley 5-A-Side Tournament.
This time, the team were fundraising for The Headlight Project, a Teesside charity supporting people affected by suicide and working to improve mental health awareness.
After taking part in our first business fives tournament earlier in the year, Team EPS returned to Goals for another afternoon of football and fundraising alongside businesses from across the region.
Team EPS went unbeaten throughout the tournament before winning the Europa League final, securing a place at the Business Fives National Final in Birmingham.

There was also some individual recognition. Our own Elliott Morgan, Senior Electrical Engineer, received the Golden Glove award after conceding just three goals across the entire tournament and making some fantastic saves throughout the day.
The result also gave our fundraising an extra boost.
EPS had already raised £365 for The Headlight Project before the tournament. Winning the Europa League brought an additional £150 donation from Business Fives, taking our final total to £515.

Across all of the businesses competing on the day, £3,240 was raised for the teams’ chosen charities, making it a successful day both on and off the pitch.
Coffee, Cake and a Cause
In September, our fundraising continued with a Macmillan Coffee Morning, held alongside our quarterly full team meeting at EPS House.
With colleagues together for the day, there was plenty of homemade baking and fresh coffee on offer, giving everyone the chance to support Macmillan Cancer Support while catching up with colleagues from across the business.

Thanks to everyone who baked, donated or simply stopped by for some cake, the EPS team raised over £100 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan provides support to people living with cancer and their families, making this another cause we were pleased to get behind.
After the meeting and Coffee Morning, the team rounded off the day with a lunch buffet from a local favourite, Buddy’s Cafe. A big thank you to Buddy’s Cafe for catering our lunch, and to everyone who helped make the Coffee Morning a success
Three Activities, Three Important Causes
The events may have looked very different, but each gave EPS colleagues an opportunity to come together and support organisations carrying out valuable work across our region.
GNAAS provides critical pre-hospital emergency care across the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. The Headlight Project supports people affected by suicide and works to improve mental health awareness across Teesside, while Macmillan Cancer Support provides services and support for people living with cancer and their families.
A huge thank you to everyone who walked, played, baked, donated or supported our fundraising over the past couple of months.
We’d also like to thank everyone behind pALEgrimage and The Golden Smog, Business Fives, and Buddy’s Cafe for their part in making each event a success.
Together, these activities have helped raise valuable funds for three organisations making a difference to people in our local communities and beyond.
